Project Overview

Retracing Bodhisattva Xuanzang (RBX Project): A Foot Journey to Explore the Sublime Wanderings of the Buddha” is Part I of the RBX Project and a befitting start of this historical project. This unique heritage documentation Project includes a documentary series based on the Explorative Pilgrimage Foot Journey of Deepak Anand, the Explorer & Walker. The “Sublime Wanderings” (footsteps) of the Buddha in the Indo-Gangetic Plains, which he made to teach the Dhamma (Dharma), are very sacred. Millions of people come and pay homage at the holy sites connected with life of the Buddha, but his “Sublime Wanderings” is still a lesser known subject.
In early 2020, despite COVID 19, as planned and conveyed earlier on this website, we started our historical mission through our social impact campaign of highlighting one of the most important contributions of Bodhisattva Xuanzang. Web stories written by Deepak Anand started coming out on Feb. 12, 2020 and his Explorative Pilgrimage Foot Journey started on Feb. 20, 2020, as scheduled. In due course of time we will also be coming out with a unique documentary series based on his Explorative Pilgrimage Foot journey.
The documentary series like the project web stories, has a two dimensional approach of facilitating the revitalisation of the Buddhacārikā (sacred footsteps of the Buddha) and highlighting the invaluable contribution of Master Xuanzang in preserving this sacred Geography and History for posterity. But for Xuanzang’s travel accounts, the World would have never known in this detail, about the Eight Great Places and so many other sacred places associated with the life of the Buddha.
Deepak Anand is on a mission to create awareness about the footsteps of the Buddha by walking the journey of nearly 2000 kms, undertaken by Bodhisattva Xuanzang in the Indo-Gangetic Plains, 14 Centuries ago. The foot journey of Deepak is from Adi Badri (part of ancient Kingdom of Kuru) to Nalanda (final destination of Xuanzang in India). He has already completed about 1250 kms of the foot journey despite adverse circumstances due to COVID 19 lockdown and inclement weather, and has reached Vaihali. Please see the Project Updates on the Home Page page itself, for more details.
On this foot journey, Deepak is in the process of stitching stories about the ancient kingdoms where the Blessed One walked and taught the Dhamma. Twenty four project web stories have already been released so far. We are also in the process of visually documenting this unique effort for the benefit of entire world. Join us and support us in this Dharma work and in making Bodhisattva Xuanzang a household name for his most valuable contributions, that are by and large unknown to the World. This Project is a thanksgiving to Bodhisattva Xuanzang from India, on behalf of the entire World for his most Valuable Contribution of preserving the sacred geography and the history of the “Sacred Footsteps of the Buddha”

With our faith and confidence in the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha, we decided to bank on Crowd funding for this important project, so that the Sangha and the like-minded people get an opportunity in collecting funds for this unique effort, and earn MERIT. Unfortunately, we have not been successful in reaching very many people so far, but we are hopeful of support from the entire Buddhist community of the world, as also from other like minded people.
